বুধবার দুপুরে এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে জাতির উদ্দেশেপ্রধানমন্ত্রীর দেয়া ভাষণের ওপর প্রতিক্রিয়া ব্যক্ত করে বিএনপির ভারপ্রাপ্ত মহাসচিব একথা বলেন।
বিএনপির ভারপ্রাপ্ত মহাসচিব বলেন, বাংলাদেশ এখন বিপন্ন। রাজনৈতিক এবং অর্থনৈতিক সংকট নিরসনের একটি মাত্র পথ হচ্ছে, অবিলম্বে বিরোধী দলগুলোর সঙ্গে আলাপ-আলোচনা করে নিরপেক্ষ নির্দলীয় সরকারের অধীনে একটি অবাধ ও সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচনের ব্যবস্থা করা, এটাই জাতির প্রত্যাশা।
মির্জা ফখরুল বলেন, জাতির উদ্দেশে দেওয়া প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার বক্তব্য জাতিকে হতাশ করেছে।জাতির প্রত্যাশা ছিল, দেশে যে রাজনৈতিক সংকট সৃষ্টি হয়েছে, তার একটি দিক নির্দেশনা পাওয়া যাবে।
কিন্তু প্রধানমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যে কোন দিক নির্দেশনা ছিল না। এটি একটি রুটিন ভাষণ বলে তিনি মন্তব্য করেন।
এসময় তিনি অবিলম্বে সকল দলের অংশগ্রহণে জাতীয় নির্বাচনের দাবি জানান।
সাংবাদিকদের এক প্রশ্নের জবাবে মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম বলেন, একদলীয় বাকশাল কায়েমের পর আওয়ামী লীগ নামে কোন দল ছিল না। বহুদলীয় গণতন্ত্র প্রবর্তন হলে আওয়ামী লীগও বিএনপি একসঙ্গে নিবন্ধিত হয়। সুতরাং বিএনপি অবৈধ দল হলে আওয়ামীলীগও অবৈধ দল।
